What is my ring size?
Measure your finger circumference or a ring's inner diameter in millimetres and use our calculator — 54.4 mm circumference (17.3 mm diameter) is a US 7.
How do I measure my ring size at home?
Wrap paper around the base of your finger, mark the overlap and measure the length in mm — or measure the inside diameter of a ring that fits. Full steps are on our how-to page.
What is the average ring size for women?
US 6 to 7 is the most common range for women; size 6 is the single most bought size.
What is the average ring size for men?
US 9 to 10 is the most common range for men.
What is US size 7 in UK size?
UK N½. US 7 measures 17.3 mm diameter and 54.4 mm circumference, which is also EU 54 and Japan/India 14.
What is US size 6 in UK size?
UK L½ — 16.5 mm diameter, 51.9 mm circumference, EU 52, Japan/India 12.
How do I convert ring sizes between countries?
Convert through millimetres: find the diameter or circumference for the size you have, then read the equivalent in the system you need. Our converter does it instantly.
What does EU ring size mean?
The EU (ISO) size is the inner circumference in millimetres, rounded — EU 54 means about 54 mm around the inside.
Can I find my ring size from my height or weight?
No. There is no reliable formula — finger size varies independently of height, weight and shoe size. Measure instead.
Should I size up for a wide band?
Yes — bands 6 mm or wider usually need about half a size more than a narrow band on the same finger.
When is the best time to measure my finger?
At the end of the day, at normal room temperature, when your fingers are at their largest. Repeat on another day to confirm.
What if I am between ring sizes?
Choose the larger half size, especially if your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger.
How accurate is an on-screen ring sizer?
Accurate when calibrated with a real bank card (85.60 mm wide) and the ring lies flat, matched to its inside edge. Confirm in mm before buying.
How do I measure a ring size secretly?
Borrow a ring worn on the same finger, press it into soap or trace its inside circle, and measure later — or buy the average size in a resizable metal.
Can all rings be resized?
No. Plain gold and platinum bands resize well; eternity bands, tension settings, tungsten and titanium generally cannot.
Why do ring size charts differ between jewellers?
UK, Japanese and Indian sizes come from published charts rather than exact formulas, so jewellers can differ by up to half a size. Millimetres are the shared truth — confirm in mm.
What ring size is 17 mm?
A 17 mm inner diameter sits between US 6.5 (16.9 mm) and US 7 (17.3 mm) — most jewellers would suggest US 7 for comfort.
What ring size is 54 mm circumference?
About US 7 (chart circumference 54.4 mm), UK N½, EU 54, Japan/India 14.
What ring size is a 52 mm circumference?
US 6 — the chart circumference for US 6 is 51.9 mm, with a 16.5 mm inner diameter. That is UK L½, EU 52 and Japan/India 12.
Why does my ring feel tight in summer and loose in winter?
Heat, humidity, exercise and salty food swell fingers — by up to half a size — while cold shrinks them. Size the ring on a warm evening so it is never painfully tight in summer; in winter it should feel secure but may spin a little. If it slides off in winter, a ring guard or sizing assistant is safer than sizing down.
What is a comfort-fit ring, and does it change my size?
A comfort-fit band is domed on the inside, so it touches less skin and slips over the knuckle more easily. Most people take their usual size, but some go down half a size compared with a flat-fit band of the same width. If you are between sizes, comfort fit is the style where the smaller size is safer — and always try sizing rings of a similar width to the band you are buying.
Can I guess my ring size from my shoe size?
No. The popular claim that ring size and shoe size match is a myth — there is no reliable relationship between shoe size, glove size, height or weight and finger circumference. Measure the finger itself; with paper and a ruler it takes two minutes.
My ring has a number stamped inside the band. What does it mean?
It is usually the size in the maker’s system: a plain number such as 7 is typically a US size, a letter such as N is UK/Australian, and a two-digit number in the 40s–60s is usually the EU circumference in millimetres. Numbers like 925, 585 or 750 are metal purity marks, not sizes. When in doubt, measure the inside diameter in mm and check it against our chart.
Still sizing? Use the calculator, the on-screen sizer, or the converter. Measuring methods are in how to measure ring size.
